How to Ask Customers for Testimonials
The right timing and language to collect authentic testimonials that build trust.
Testimonials are among the most persuasive elements on a provider profile. Standard and Featured providers can display up to three. Here's how to collect them without it feeling awkward.
When to Ask
The best time to ask for a testimonial is immediately after a successful job — while the homeowner is still feeling good about the work. Don't wait weeks or months. Ask before you leave or send a follow-up message within 24 hours.
How to Ask
Keep it simple and honest. Something like: "I'm glad you're happy with the work. I just listed my business on LynkServ and I'm trying to build up some reviews. Would you be willing to give me a quick quote I can use on my profile?" Most satisfied customers will say yes.
If you prefer to ask in writing, a text or email works well: "Hi [Name] — thanks again for choosing us for your [service]. Would you be willing to write a quick sentence or two about your experience that I can use on my LynkServ profile? It would really help. No pressure either way."
What Makes a Good Testimonial
The most effective testimonials are specific. "Great service" is forgettable. "Jason fixed a leak that two other plumbers couldn't find. Fast, honest, and fair pricing" is memorable. When a customer is willing but unsure what to write, you can prompt them: "Feel free to mention what we did, whether we were on time, and anything that surprised you."
Three Testimonials Is Enough
LynkServ allows up to three testimonials. Choose your three strongest ones. A short, powerful quote outperforms a long, lukewarm one. If you have more than three strong testimonials, rotate them occasionally to keep your profile fresh.
