Expanding Your Reach with Subcategories

How selecting the right subcategories helps the right homeowners find you.

Every LynkServ provider can select up to three subcategories. Choosing them strategically helps you appear in more targeted searches — and connect with homeowners looking for exactly what you offer.

How Subcategories Work in Search

When a homeowner filters search results by subcategory (for example, "Drain Cleaning" instead of "Trades"), only providers who have selected that subcategory appear. If you're a plumber who specializes in drain cleaning but haven't added Drain Cleaning as a subcategory, you won't appear in those filtered results — even though you offer the service.

Picking the Right Three

Choose your three highest-demand services, or the three that best represent your specialty and generate the most profitable jobs. If you're a plumber, Plumbing is an obvious choice. Your second and third slots might be Drain Cleaning and Water Heater — the specific services homeowners search for when they have an urgent problem.

Avoid selecting subcategories for services you technically offer but rarely do or don't want more of. If you'll do window installation in a pinch but don't want to be known as a window installer, don't select it.

Subcategory SEO Pages

LynkServ generates a dedicated page for every subcategory in every city — for example, /services/drain-cleaning/salt-lake-city. Featured providers who have selected Drain Cleaning appear at the top of that page. These pages are indexed by Google and can drive organic traffic directly to providers in that subcategory.

Updating Your Subcategories

You can update your subcategories at any time from your profile editor. If your business expands into a new service area, add the relevant subcategory. If you stop offering a service, remove it.
